Spanish Programmes
Proyecto Peru uses
an interactive method of teaching based on learning through practice inside
the classroom, and also around town. We provide students of all levels
with intensive programmes designed to meet the individual needs of each
student.
We focus
on improving the language ability of students through conversation, comprehension,
pronunciation, grammar and reading. Finally, we examine important grammatical
points at each level.
Classes are
lively with interactive activities providing all the elements of language
that you need. The highly qualified teachers of Proyecto Peru offer a
variety of tasks and activities (visits to local markets, volunteer projects,
plazas, etc) to help you learn Spanish more effectively.
Standard Programmes
Group Courses
Plenty of interaction is encouraged to make classes as dynamic as possible.
Courses start every Monday, year-round. Each course consists of 4 sessions
of 50 minutes each day, for a total of 20 hours per week. Maximum class
size is 4 students per group. Classes are held in the mornings or afternoons.
Individual Courses
We offer a personalized method of teaching according to the specific
needs of each student. Courses can begin any day (Monday to Friday) year-round
and consist of 4 sessions of 50 minutes per day for a total of 20 hours
per week. Classes can be held in the mornings or afternoons.
Half-courses
This is an option if you want to work on your Spanish skills, but
don't want to spend 20 hours a week. You can choose between individual
and group courses, and whether you want to study in the mornings or in
the afternoons. This course is 10 hours per week.
Special Programmes
Total
Immersion Course
The intensity of the immersion experience and the amount of exposure
to the Spanish language in Peru ensure that students will quickly acquire
the necessary language skills to communicate in real life situations.
Total immersion means you are in a complete Spanish language context (course,
local family, plus extra activities such as visits to local markets, interviews
with local people, etc), all with a private teacher. This is the most
effective way of developing your Spanish quickly.
Spanish for Special Purposes (SSP)
This course will give you a specialized vocabulary within the occupational
areas of healthcare, business or technical fields, and will be developed
in many practical contexts. The course will prepare you for meeting patients,
customers or employees who only speak Spanish.
Survival Spanish
Proyecto Peru offers a specially designed Spanish course for travelers
who want to communicate in day-to-day situations. The teachers will make
each class a dynamic environment, and provide real-life situations through
which the student will have an opportunity to practice Spanish with locals.
Spanish for Children
Proyecto Peru can offer a Spanish learning programme at any time of the
year for children between 5 and 12 years of age.
Children learn Spanish through educational and fun activities. The classes
begin with basic Spanish, based on themes such as greetings, numbers,
colours, actions, animals, etc. As part of the learning process, the young
students may perform in a play, draw and paint in the classroom, visit
parks, etc. If the age is appropriate, students may also learn Spanish
through puppet shows, story telling, board games, videos, music, dance
and cooking classes. All focus on practical situations in order to maintain
interest and attention. Children may also join cultural activities.
Levels
Beginners
Students
will be able to use and understand simple sentences relating to basic
needs.
Intermediate
Student
will be able to express themselves spontaneously, in day-to-day situations,
revising their knowledge along the way.
Advanced
Students
will have advanced communication ability, even in complex situations being
able to communicate with native Spanish speakers with ease.
Superior
This
level is for students who need to perfect their oral language skills.
Special emphasis will be placed on pronunciation and intonation. They
will be able to use the Spanish language flexibly and effectively in social,
academic and professional contexts.
Placement
Test
Before
a course begins, each student completes an oral and written placement
test. By scoring the results, the language coordinator places students
at the appropriate level.
Certificate
Depending
on the results of the final oral and written test, students can receive
a certificate of completion. It will state the level achieved and the
total number of hours completed.
Public
Holidays
There
will be no classes on the following public holidays: 1 January, 1 May,
24 June, 28 and 29 July, 1 November and 25 December.
